PRIVATE PILOT LICENSE (PPL)

OVERVIEW

 

This license allows the aspiring pilot to operate an aircraft under Visual Flight Rules (VFR); holder of this license can carry passengers but not for compensation or hire.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

 

  • Age: 17 years
  • Educational Qualifications: Successful completion of the 10th standard or an equivalent examination from a recognized board.
  • Medical Requirements: Candidates must meet the DGCA CLASS 2 MEDICALS standards.

FLYING REQUIREMENTS

REQUIREMENT HOURS/DETAILS
Total Flying Time 50
Pilot-in-Command (PIC) 20
Cross Country Time 5

Note: The remaining 25 hours are dedicated to teaching candidates basic flying skills and emergency procedures.

THEORY EXAMINATIONS

  • Air Regulations
  • Aviation Meteorology
  • Air Navigation
  • Aircraft Technical General 
  • RTR(A)

PPL CHECKRIDE REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Ground Evaluation (Oral)
  • General Flying Test by Day (Cross Country and Emergency Manoeuvres)
Special Note: The hours mentioned above adhere to the standards and guidelines of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). However, these hours may vary according to the requirements of the country selected by candidates for their pilot flight training.
